Tour Faq
The main difference is travel time — Sariska is roughly 4-4.5 hours from Delhi or Jaipur, meaningfully closer than Corbett's 5-6 hour drive, making it a better fit for a genuinely short 2N/3D trip. Corbett generally has a stronger historical tiger-sighting record and denser forest cover, so for companies with slightly more time available and wildlife sightings as the top priority, Corbett remains the stronger choice; for a quicker, easier logistics trip, Sariska wins out.
Sariska's tiger population was critically depleted in the mid-2000s due to poaching, and the reserve underwent a notable relocation and recovery program to reintroduce tigers from Ranthambore. The population has been slowly recovering since, so while sightings can't be guaranteed, on any wildlife safari, the reserve's numbers are meaningfully better than they were a decade ago, alongside consistent sightings of leopards and native deer species.
Kankwari Fort sits deep within the reserve and is historically notable as the site where Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb imprisoned his brother, Dara Shikoh, during the succession conflict that followed Shah Jahan's reign. Beyond the historical detail, its location deep in the forest makes the visit itself feel like a genuine expedition, adding some texture to what would otherwise be a fairly standard fort visit.
Yes, easily — Sariska's proximity to Jaipur (a similar 4-4.5 hour drive) makes it straightforward to combine both in an extended itinerary, giving a company both a wildlife-and-nature leg and a heritage-and-shopping leg within the same trip.
October through June, with the park closed during the monsoon months of July-September for both safety and ecological reasons. Within the open season, the warmer months towards the end (April-June) tend to see better sighting odds as animals concentrate near remaining water sources, though at the cost of hotter daytime temperatures.
