Arrival & the City Palace Quarter
Delhi → Jaipur
Depart Delhi by early morning road or a short flight/train, arriving in Jaipur by late morning. Check into your hotel and, after lunch, begin exploring the old city — start at the City Palace complex, still partly home to Jaipur's former royal family, followed by Jantar Mantar, the remarkable 18th-century observatory built by Sawai Jai Singh II with instruments still capable of astronomical accuracy today. Step outside to photograph Hawa Mahal's honeycomb pink facade from the street opposite, then spend the evening browsing Johari Bazaar and Bapu Bazaar for jewellery, textiles, and handicrafts. Overnight in Jaipur.
Amber Fort & the Hilltop Forts
Full Day in Jaipur
Devote the morning to Amber Fort, Jaipur's grandest monument, set on a hill above Maota Lake roughly 11 kilometres from the city centre. Explore its courtyards, the Sheesh Mahal with its thousand mirrored reflections, and the Sukh Niwas cooled by early water-channel engineering. Nearby, visit Jaigarh Fort, home to the world's largest cannon on wheels, and take in panoramic Aravalli views. In the afternoon, visit a working block-printing or blue pottery studio on the way back into the city, followed by free time or an optional excursion to Jal Mahal for photographs from the lakeside. As evening falls, head up to Nahargarh Fort for one of Jaipur's best sunset views over the Pink City below. Round off the day with an optional cultural evening at Chokhi Dhani, featuring Rajasthani folk performances and a traditional thali dinner. Overnight in Jaipur.
